Substance Use Disorder Services (SUDS)

Lake County Behavioral Health Services provides services for individuals in crisis, for youth, for adults, and for alcohol and drug treatment. Services are provided in Clearlake and Lucerne and can be accessed through many of our partnering agencies and organizations.

Understanding Treatment Options

Lake County Behavioral Health follows a Continuum of Care Treatment Model - “No Wrong Door” Many of the services that individuals need are obtained through referrals and coordinated care with our partnering agencies and community-based organizations. Lake County Behavioral Health Services contracts with other organizations to support accessing services that we do not directly provide.

Examples include perinatal, residential, and social model detox services.

How to Get Substance Use Services

If you or a family member are in need of substance use disorder services, call either of our clinics (Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm), and complete a brief screening, followed by a referral and/or assessment.

All admissions are determined by a licensed medical provider.

Lake County Behavioral Health Outpatient Programs

Youth - Ages 12 to 17

Provides assessment, treatment, and recovery services for youth who are concerned about their alcohol or substance use.

Treatment includes individual and group counseling, alcohol and drug education, case management, and relapse prevention planning. Referrals to community resources and partnering agencies are also provided, available.

Adult Ages - 18 & Over

This program includes assessment; treatment planning; individual and group counseling; services for family; crisis intervention; and discharge planning.

Individual and group counseling helps you to identify attitudes and behaviors connected to your substance use.

Counseling covers issues related to your recovery, including health practices; life skills; values and motivations; treatment action plans; and relapse prevention.

Services typically last 6 months, depending on your needs.

Dependency Drug Court Programs

The Lake County Dependency Drug Court (DDC) is a special program for families impacted by substance abuse. DDC is designed to help families stay together or reunite if they have been separated. It is our goal to partner with individuals to assist in building a better life for both the individuals and their families.

DDC offers a team-style approach to treatment and addressing barriers. Individuals attend groups, individual services, community support meetings, and participate in drug testing.

DDC usually last 12 months however, it is dependent upon each individual's needs and the needs of their family.

Services for Co-Occurring Disorders

We work closely with our Department's Mental Health staff and community mental health providers to ensure an integrated approach to treating co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. During the intake process, you will be screened to determine if a referral to mental health services is appropriate.

Confidentiality

The LCBHS Substance Use Disorder Services is committed to protecting your privacy. The confidentiality of alcohol and drug abuse patient records maintained by a 42 CFR Part 2 program is protected by Federal law and regulations. In general, we will not give out information about you or your treatment unless you give permission, or unless allowed or required by law.
