Facilities

Located on Highway 29 across the street from the Middletown Library, the C. Gibson Museum and Cultural Center houses a collection of items related to history, natural history and archaeology related to South Lake County. Originally built as a library Chauncy Gibson in 1930, this mission-style building was saved in 2014 as a Museum and Cultural Center.

Research

Research material regarding South Lake County history is available to the public. The Mauldin Photograph Collection is an additional resource available at the Gibson Museum.

Historic Photographs

The public is welcome to peruse our large collection of Lake County photographs.

Fireside Meeting Space Rentals

The Fireside area is available for small gatherings and meetings. A small hourly fee is charged and certain restrictions apply. Advance reservations are required.

Accessibility

Street parking is available around the Museum, as well as a small amount of parking behind the building in an unpaved lot. Handicapped parking is located on the Callayomi Street side of building with a ramped entrance leading from that spot to the building. Entrance from the street is accessible through the front garden with two steps to the building.

The Gibson building is a single story, with tiled floors.

Gibson Museum has an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible, single stall restroom with a grab-bar.
